How You Can Build More Empathy — Dan Loney Therapy

Empathy isn't sympathy. Empathy isn't about pitying someone for their problems or attempting to comfort them. Nope.

Instead, empathy is gaining a deep understanding of another person's struggles and perspectives.

During the module brief when we were asked to design a product / Industrial / Furniture  design

I chose to design a furniture design embracing social distancing.

Interview

Name: Mustafa Adam
Age: 33
Occupation: Interior Architect

Why I chose my brother he works at an office goes to different sites then goes back to the office so the risk is a lot more within his field.

He said their company does a lot of remote working now post COVID including the regular working from the office visiting sites and the frequent traveling. He recalls an incident that happened to him during the pandemic

At the start of the COVID lockdown, he just came back from a business trip was asked to spend 14 days self-quarantine at home after taking the test in order to keep his family safe while waiting for results he still had to work from home which he found very hard.

Some of the issues he faced was the dilemma of not knowing whether he's going to test positive/negative and still working from home with the same air/ a/c ventilation. Mustafa said he hoped there was closed air-purifying workspace with built-in art supplies Amal saying like " Copic in sketchbook" he laughed and said yeah kinda why because it was hard finding the right things during the pandemic, with a built-in desktop, automatically connects with your printer and 3D printing available with a touchpoint so basically autonomous workspace Mustafa? Why not!

Basically to not have all of the things seen in the picture rather a one place kinda thing like a cubicle Safe, Easy, Fast, and most important be able to use at the office too.

Mustafa's work station!

Conclusion

I was able to observe since most of my family members were working/studying from home and some were front liners like the rest of the world doing your work and being safe should be the main priority!

Nevertheless, Being a product designer and problem solver who lived through COVID- 19 effects I need to find a solution.

Thanks to "25 minutes of yoga and 10 minutes of mediation"
